Technology Department as a Service™

A technology department that can take shape around the organization rather than requiring the organization to build one from the ground up.

The Technology You Need Doesn't Fit Into One Job Description.

Modern technology environments can require expertise across multiple areas, while organizations should not have to independently recruit, interview, negotiate with, onboard, and manage every specialist required to move the work forward.

Kent & Brandy maintains its own professional talent and applies a rigorous hiring and qualification process, bringing the appropriate expertise into the engagement as the organization's needs change. The client is engaging Kent & Brandy as the technology partner. K&B is responsible for the professionals working within the engagement.

A Technology Department Built Around the Work.

Technology Department as a Service™ gives an organization access to the people, leadership, and technical expertise required to operate and improve its technology environment through one ongoing relationship with Kent & Brandy.

K&B becomes part of the organization's technology function. We learn the environment, understand how the business operates, and establish the right level of support around the work. A Principal provides continuity and leadership while experienced professionals contribute across the areas where their expertise is needed.

The result is a technology department that can take shape around the organization rather than requiring the organization to build one from the ground up.

How the Department Comes Together

Every organization starts from a different place. Some have an internal technology leader who needs additional depth behind them. Others have employees handling technology alongside their primary responsibilities. Some have several outside providers managing different pieces of the environment. Others have reached the point where technology has become too important to remain without dedicated ownership.

K&B does not require the organization to fit into a predetermined department structure. We begin by understanding the environment and the work that needs to be done. From there, the K&B team supporting the organization takes shape.

A Principal provides the relationship, leadership, and broader perspective. Core professionals handle the ongoing technology work, while specialized expertise can be brought into the engagement when a particular need arises.

The people involved may change as the work changes. The K&B relationship does not.

The Client Does Not Have to Build the Team.

One of the most important parts of the K&B model happens before a professional ever enters a client environment. We invest in our own talent.

K&B hires professionals based on the technical expertise, experience, certifications, and skills that organizations need across modern technology environments. Our hiring process is rigorous by design. Professionals are evaluated through structured work studies, professional experience is verified, and appropriate background screening is completed before they become part of client delivery.

We are deliberate about the people we bring into the firm because the quality of our work depends on the quality of the professionals behind it.

Our professional network is intentionally private. K&B is not a staffing marketplace where clients browse individual workers and decide whom they would like to hire. The professionals are part of the firm, and K&B is responsible for determining who is appropriate for the work.

That means an organization does not have to begin with a job description, spend weeks reviewing candidates, conduct interviews, negotiate an offer, complete onboarding, and wait for a new employee to become familiar with the environment before the work can begin. The investment in finding and preparing the right talent has already been made.

The Right Expertise Can Enter the Engagement at the Right Time.

The capability

The Right Expertise Can Enter the Engagement at the Right Time.

A technology environment rarely needs the same expertise at the same intensity all year. An organization may need stronger operational ownership today and specialized systems expertise several months later. A major systems project may require a professional with deep experience in a particular platform. A security initiative may require a different level of technical specialization than the organization's day-to-day operations.

TDaaS gives Kent & Brandy the ability to bring that expertise into the engagement when the work calls for it. Our core team provides continuity. Specialized professionals can be added when their particular knowledge is relevant to the work.

The client does not have to create a permanent position for every capability it needs.

Built for Technology and the Work Around It.

Technology does not operate separately from the organization. A technology problem may actually be a workflow problem. A workflow issue may be caused by the way systems have been configured. A business application may be capable of far more than the organization is currently using. A process that once worked may become inefficient as the organization grows.

That is why Kent & Brandy looks beyond maintaining individual systems. Our professionals can work across technology operations, infrastructure, business applications, security, automation, cloud environments, data, integrations, employee technology, AI, and the operational processes connecting them.

The specific work depends on the organization. The objective remains the same: make technology more useful and better aligned with the way the organization operates.

One Department. Different Levels of Engagement.

TDaaS is delivered through a modified monthly retainer. The organization maintains an ongoing relationship with Kent & Brandy and receives access to the technology capability established around its needs. The scope and depth of that capability can change as priorities change.

Some months may be heavily focused on operations and support. Another period may require significant project execution. A new system may require specialized expertise. A period of growth may create entirely different technology requirements.

The engagement is designed to accommodate those changes rather than forcing the organization into a fixed list of services. The monthly relationship provides continuity while the work itself remains adaptable.

What the Client Sees

The client has one relationship with Kent & Brandy. A Principal remains familiar with the organization and provides continuity across the engagement. Behind that relationship is the broader K&B team working on the technology environment.

The client knows who is responsible for the relationship and where the work is going. K&B manages the coordination of the professionals required to move that work forward.

When specialized professionals become involved, the organization receives the appropriate professional information and credentials associated with the engagement. K&B remains responsible for the quality and coordination of the people it places around the work.

The organization gets the benefit of a team without taking on the responsibility of building that team itself.

Your Existing Team Does Not Have to Disappear.

The partnership

Your Existing Team Does Not Have to Disappear.

TDaaS can operate as the organization's technology department or alongside one that already exists. If there is a CIO, technology leader, IT manager, or internal team, K&B can extend their capacity rather than compete with it.

An internal leader may know the organization better than anyone. K&B can provide the specialized execution and additional expertise needed to turn priorities into completed work.

The same principle applies when an organization already works with outside vendors. K&B does not need to replace every existing relationship. We can help organize the broader technology environment, provide additional expertise, and take responsibility for areas where the organization needs greater capability.

The model adapts to the environment that already exists.

What This Changes for the Organization

The traditional path to building technology capability begins with a position. Write the job description. Open the search. Review candidates. Conduct interviews. Negotiate an offer. Complete background checks and onboarding. Give the new hire time to understand the organization.

Only then does the real work begin.

TDaaS moves that investment upstream.

A Technology Department Without the Traditional Buildout.

The value of TDaaS is having access to the expertise an organization needs without having to create every position required to obtain it.

Kent & Brandy provides the leadership, professional talent, coordination, and specialized expertise behind the engagement. The organization provides the business context, priorities, and goals. Together, the department develops around the work.

That may look different from organization to organization. It may begin as an extension of an existing technology leader, become the organization's primary technology function, or develop somewhere between the two.

There is no requirement for the organization to start over. There is only a need to determine what should happen next.

Let's figure out what your technology needs next.
